Paris in April

Obviously I'm delighted to be spending a few days in Paris although the April dates are a bit wobble making. Since I didn't book it myself and as I have to go in the Easter holidays I have decided to go with the flow and visit some significant Cordelier sites. After much deliberation I've booked the Catacombs, and now I realise that they are on direct Metro lines to Luxembourg and Odeon - so it seems like a good chance to make a day of Cordelier agony exploration. Please do let me know of any particularly good spots to take in that I might otherwise miss, cos I really want to make the most of it - I won't be on my own so should be fine ok emotionally.

The Catacombs? Oh, dear God. You are very brave! I've never been.

Where else are you planning to go? Saint-Sulpice and Rue Condé are musts...

Gosh I can't keep up with you! It's lovely to see you back here too - I have this book called Path of the Patriots and it has a really detailed Cordelier walk - with all their houses and whatever - including Theroigne's. so yes St Sulpice and the Luxembourg Gardens and Rue Conde and Odeon and G-J's statue, but do you know I think I am going to avoid the Conciergerie - we went there a couple of years ago ( for me that's before Camille) and found it utterly utterly chilling and I really don't think I'll cope with that. I probably won't cope with the catacombs either but i am going with my daughter and as a heartless monster she is looking forward to it so it will be interesting. I know I sound like an absolute ghoul but I also like Pere Lachaise so that's on the list too cos I've got a map and can find everybody's grave!! Apart from that I'm not sure - oh yes Musee Carnavalet and the zoo. Have you been to Carnavalet? Is it worth a visit? As you can probably tell I am ridiculously excited and quite a bit scared because of the dates. :)

I went to the Palais Royal, the site of Max's house, and the Place de la Concorde all on the 12th last year, and that was bad enough. Couldn't face going in April; you are more courageous.

Carnavalet has lots of non-Camille, of course, but worth it for his darling, darling ink pot.

I've never been to the Conciergerie. Perhaps one day. I am shivering just thinking about it, though.

(It will be hard visiting the Luxembourg Gardens in April. How will you bear it if the lilacs are all out - I don't mean that to sound silly. It will be terribly painful, I imagine. But perhaps you'll feel very close to him, which is worth it all.)

I didn't have a choice on the date - it was a surprise Christmas present and I try not to let my family realise the extent of my involvement - they think its all a bit of a joke - I don't know if you remember when I deleted my tumblr - some of that was down to domestic pressure. But yes - Palais Royal and Max's house definitely - and I have been worrying about the lilacs ever since I knew about the trip. I feel as if it would be treacherous not to go to all the places though - I mean at least I know I will be coming back, just one last question - are the Luxembourg Gardens beautiful?
Don't go to the Conciergerie- I do think there might be something absorbed in the stones - it's cold.
